Far North Wonders

                          Far North Wonders

Up in the Far North we have many things to see and do like beautiful scenery, glorious beaches and more! In our inquiry this year we have been learning about NZ history, our local history and this term we are looking at geography of NZ because we are reading a book called 'Cuz' that is set in NZ.
In the Far North you can grab an ice cream (the biggest ever! 4 scoops with a lolly on top) from Te Kao and chillax on the warm sand of the many beaches around the Far North.

You could have a drive through the Mangamuka Gorge and have a look at the beautiful bush.

Do you like sand? Well if so you should check out the Te Paki Sand Dunes! Whether you just wanna chill or have a thrill, you can do both!

There are many amazing things to do in the Far North. There are many more incredible places in New Zealand! We are lucky to live in such a special country.

In our class we have been learning about Fiords and Sounds. Not the sounds you hear, the Sounds in Geography.  They are stunning parts of NZ.

Beeswax wraps!!

                          Beeswax Wraps!!

In class We have made Beeswax wraps. They are  fabric coated in melted beeswax. We could also draw our design of choice on the fabric before coating them in beeswax. We did this so we could help the environment. We are helping the environment by not using plastic or toxic materials for wrapping our lunch. The plastic in our lunch boxes will most ,likely blow away into the ocean. From there many animals like birds and sea life will eat them. If they do they will be very sick but if our beeswax wraps somehow end up in the ocean that can be eaten and the animals wont get sick. We are also trying to replace plastic with our wraps so there will be no more pollution around the world!

Term 3 Reflection

                         Term 3 Reflection

This term was so fun! I think some of my classmates can agree! I have made many great memories with my friends and it is just about to start fresh with a new term!

My favourite thing to do was NZ and local history!
If you look back at some of my older posts you will see what we did. It was really fun doing NZ History this term because I got to learn about who discovered NZ, what the early people of NZ did and so on...
Local history was also really fun because I got to learn about what happened in The Far North.

In term 4 I am really looking forward to going to our school camp. Ever since about half way through term 3 we have been fund-raising for our school camp by selling soup every Tuesday and Thursday. Every Tuesday we are selling Pumpkin soup and every Thursday we are selling Tomato soup.

In the early days of term 3 I found Writing really challenging. I slowly found it easier for me to write good stories because I persevered through it and I also had some great friends helping me along the way.

And and all Term 3 was a great term!

My Animation!!

                                     !Animation!

In class we learnt how to make an animation with Mrs Davan.
It was really easy! All you had to do was put in your background, find a character(make sure the character is png),
duplicate your slide and then move it just a tiny bit each time. Then you got yourself an animation!
I hope you enjoy mine:

Ice Skating!

                             Ice Skating

In our class we went on a trip down to Te Ahu center in Kaitaia to go ICE SKATING!! Coincidentally it was daffodil day. When we arrived at Te Ahu Center we had to take our shoes off before we put on our Ice skates.I *tried* to walk over to the place where we were going to skate because the skates we had on were very hard to walk with.I could barely walk to the ice rink.It wasn't really ice it was just plastic but it was still fun. The ground was so slippery! Here is a photo of us skating.

Did you go ice skating and if you did was it fun?

Newspaper Article Writing

                               Newspaper Article Writing

Today my class learnt how to write a *Newspaper Article*

A good Newspaper Article needs a good introduction with when, what, who and where in it.It also requires that you don't talk about yourself .Don't use things like I, us, we and me. Newspaper Articles contain facts and things that actually happened without using big fluffy adjective like AMAZING, EXCITING, INCREDIBLE, BLISTERING and so on.
Our class wrote a Newspaper Article about Little Red Robin Hood (a play that came to our school). We used things that OTHER people said like this:

A Child in room two stated that "the play was super funny".
Quotation marks look like this --> "
