My First Week Back!

My First week back!
I found that art was my most challenging feat of this week.
I enjoyed doing sports with my classmates!
The highlight of my week has to be doing an online assembly with my whole school.
This week I completed all of my work to the best of my abilities.
Something I want to work on next week is keeping up good hygiene.

My Pepeha

My Pepeha
In class we have been asked to create a game/animation about our Pepeha.
This task was hard because we had to use our knowledge of coding.
I am not Maori so it was hard to find some of the Maori vocab for the Criteria.
Here is my finished Game:

I Hope you enjoy!

Handy Hooks!

Handy Hooks!
In class we have been learning about persuasive writing. One of the key features for any piece of writing is a "hook".
A hook is an introduction to the writing that leaves the reader intrigued and wanting to know more...
We had to arrange some introduction starters in the most effective hook (the top) and the least effective hook (the bottom).
Here are my rankings:

Our teacher taught us never to start a speech with "Hello my name is "blah blah" and today I will talk to you about......
We should try to start it off with something that will engage the reader like a joke or a rhetorical question.

Puzzling Pixels!

Puzzling Pixels!
In class we have been learning about reflection/symmetry. One of our tasks was to fill out a spreadsheet that had reflection tasks on it. One of our tasks was to create a Minecraft Pixel figure using our new knowledge of symmetry:
(The Things on the side are some of my calculations)
We also had to create a Pixel Superhero using the reference images that were supplied on this site.
I decided to make Batman:
This task was fun because I had made my own minecraft character but never like this!

Dazzling Density

Dazzling Density!
In class we have been learning about density! Density is all about the weight of an object and the amount of room it takes up.
We had to fill out a slideshow about density. The task we had to complete was all about science (the instructions/details are on the slides).
The colours that I used were red and yellow. After mixing for a while my colored milk started to look like a planet of some sort.
Here is my finished slideshow:

Maybe you could try this experiment at your house...

Octopus Play Dough!

Octopus Play Dough!
In class one of our tasks was to create an animal using our home made play dough.
I decided to make mine an octopus.
This task was super fun because I got to unleash the artsy side of myself which I do not do very often...
Here it is:
(The eyes look like eggs, we had a limited amount of colours...)

Reflections!

Reflections!
In class we have been focusing on reflections. Reflections are something you would get if you cut a symmetrical photo in half, then you would have the reflections of that image.
Lines of symmetry are the lines that indicate the point of which the image reflects.
We had to go through a slideshow and complete the reflection images. We had to draw the lines of symmetry of that photo and figure out the reflective patterns.
Here is my slideshow:

This task was fun because I got to use my prior knowledge of reflection/symmetry to complete it!

Catherine McAuley

Catherine McAuley
In class we have been assigned to create a portrait (fact file) of our house group representative.
At our school we have 4 house groups. Each house group corresponds with a colour and a persons name. The house group that I belong to is McAuley (Catherine McAuley-Blue). Here is my creation:
Catherine McAuley Profile
Catherine McAuley was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1778.
She is known for caring for the poor and opening/constructing a facility that was used to educate poor women (The House Of Mercy).
She died under the surveillance of her fellow Sisters Of Mercy.

Lockdown Review!

Lock down Review!
In class we have been assigned to write a review/reflection of our lock down experience:

"My lock down has been quite fun. Lots of gaming, bonding and memory making. My most prominent memory being shaving my brothers head😂(He wanted me to do it), but that's not all. I have also experienced many other things like questionable food combos, a "Petrified Possum" in my tree (it was so cute), a very annoyed cat from not having any alone time since we cant really leave the house and much more. The most challenging thing during the lock down period is schoolwork. Lock down has been a breeze. The thing I have missed the most has to be Fast Food. The thing I am most looking forward to after we go back to normal is going to my friends houses!"
During Lock down I can sometimes feel like I am trapped, but luckily I have my friends (through google hangouts) to keep me sane....

Pirate Treasure!

Pirate Treasure!
In class we have been assigned to create a treasure map around our house showcasing where we went and where we ended up. We also had to write instructions using our newly learned knowlegde of directions. (North, South, East,West).
This task was fun because I got to explore my house/think from the perspective of a pirate!
Here are my instructions and the map to go with it:

"I was a mere boy of 12 when I drew this map so best ye walk with the steps of a 12 year olde"

If you’re told a compass heading then face that way before ye proceed and don’t cheat and read ahead or I’ll send ye to Davy Jones’ Locker!!

Begin your quest for the Maskell Millions stood on the inside door mat looking Due North.

Take 2 steps North
Another 5 steps East
2 steps North
Now travel East for 22 paces
And 14 paces South (be careful not to crash into the Ship!)
Grab your compass and march 40 steps West-South-West
Now look for a fence post with a Black circle carved into the back of it.
Once you have found the post stand with your back against it and walk 15 steps North
Turn to face the Setting sun (that’s West!) and take 3 small steps.
It’s time to face North again, this time taking 31 paces
Facing East, walk up Mt Maskell until you come upon a post with a tree growing out of it.
Starting with the “Treepost” at your left side, continue East for 40 paces and enjoy a shady rest beneath the giant Pineapple

When rested, turn to face South-East and look for Bill (the Microsoft guys’ last name) and go to within 3 paces of your target
Once there, turn West and travel a further 40 steps (if you have it correct you’ll not be able to go any further).
Now walk South again for 8 steps
Look to your West and you should see a stone square on the ground – go stand on it and face North
Follow the trail of squares until you come upon a Blue door.
Turn until your back is to the Door then walk West for 16 steps
Now face North for the last time and cover the final 5 paces to find your Treasure".

Awesome Advertisement!

Awesome Advertisement!-"Meat Juice".

One of our projects during class was to create an advertisement for our very own product. I decided to do my one on "Meat Juice". Meat Juice is a meat flavoured liquid that you put on dog bicuits to make it Instantly Irresistable. I am forever grateful to my dad for helping me out with this project and my dog Marley for being a good boy during the filming of this ad.
Here it is:

Kindness Mural!

Kindness Mural!
In class, one of our assignments was to create a kind mural with chalk (preferably on a concrete surface). Luckily I have a concrete "courtyard thing" outside of my house.
Here it is:
(Stay In Your Bubble, Stay Out Of Trouble)
This message is to tell people to do the right thing during lockdown. Luckily I finished it before I ran out of chalk.
This task was fun because I got to draw on the concrete and if I made a mistake i could just wash it away!

Crazy Coordinates!

Crazy Coordinates!
In class we have been assigned to complete a slideshow that was all about coordinates. This task was easy for me because I am quite familiar with coordinates. Here it is:
(For the helicopter one we had a template that we had to find the coordinates on and join them together with lines, the circles are where the coordinates were originally)
I enjoyed this task because I like using Coordinates.

Advertisements!!!
In class we have been assigned to complete a slide that was related to persuasive writing/advertising. We had to give our opinion on what we thought the target audience for the advertisements were and we had to identify the "AFOREST"structure and say which ones had been used in that video.
Here is the "AFOREST" Structure:
Here is my slideshow showing my answers:

This task was fun because I really like Persuasive writing!

Compass Learning!

Compass Learning!
In Class (for Maths) we have been learning about compasses.
A compass is something you use to find the direction that you want to travel to:
To Portray our learning about compasses we had to fill out a  google slide that our teacher had prepared for us.
This task was hard because it has been a long time since I have used a compass so my prior knowledge on this subject wasn't to strong. Here is my finished product:

Pancakes!!!!!

In Class we have been asked to choose between some challenges, one of which was to make something for your family. I made Pancakes for lunch for me and my mum. (My dad didn't want any, he already had lunch).
They turned out pretty well considering that I had never made pancakes before.
They tasted suprisingly good.....
Here is a photo of my creation:
This task was fun because I have always loved cooking!

Newspaper Cover!!!!

Newspaper Cover
In class we have been asked to create the front cover for a Newspaper. Beforehand we had to google and research what the front cover of a newspaper looked like. After that we got staight to creating. Our teacher gave us the criteria for our Front cover and a site that we could use to create it!
This task was challenging because we had to write in Formal language like a real newpaper. This task was also fun because I got to learn how to lay out my newspaper format.
I Based my cover on the recent change to alert level 3. Because of the change, people have been rushing to get to their favourite fast food places.
Here's what I got :
